It might be our favourite golf hotel.

Whether it’s archery, kayaking, clay pigeon shooting, recovering in the spa or enjoying cocktails, there’s something for everyone to enjoy after 18 holes.

But that’s enough about accommodation; let’s talk stellar golf courses.

Ailsa is primed and ready for action, was awarded the 18th best course in the world by Golf World, and host of the Open on four occasions.

What a CV!

Experience the magic of links golf from the first tee to the winning putt (and all the bunker blunders in between).

Can you trump the gang and take the winner’s trophy for your own Open?

Next is the King Robert the Bruce Course.

This overlooked links features many risk-reward shots—perfect for brave golfers and low-handicaps.

The resort is 54.2 miles from Glasgow Airport, so plan your route to sidestep any stress.

Whether you spend your downtime in the huge swimming pool, the tennis courts or the spa, this place is a godsend.

The Dalmahoy East Course has hosted both the Solheim Cup and the Scottish PGA Championship, so you better bring your A-game!

Famously named “The Beast” these wide fairways are awesome for big hitters seeking some birdies. Just a heads up—watch out for the crafty bunkers.

For beginners, enter The Dalmahoy West Course, where the forgiving fairways present plenty of challenges. Your short game around the greens will be tested, so practice with your wedges.

On top of this, the hotel is 4.5 miles from Edinburgh Airport, which makes it easy to get there after landing.

Royal Marine Hotel Brora

brora

📍 Highlands & Inverness

🛏️ 2 x Nights @ 4* Royal Marine Hotel Brora

⛳ 1 x Round @ Brora Golf Course

⛳ 1 x Round @ Tain Golf Course

⛳ 1 x Round @ Golspie Golf Course

💰 From £455pp

If you want an injection of Scottish culture, this is one of the greatest cheap golf holidays in Scotland.

Royal Marine Hotel features in The Times “Top 100 Best Places to Stay in Britain in 2023” and offers a traditional Highland dining experience in front of an open fire.

It would be rude not to enjoy some Angus steak or fresh seafood and knock it back with Scotch.

The rooms boast free Wi-Fi, room service, comfy beds, an ensuite bathroom, tea and coffee facilities, and a flat-screen TV—perfect to return to after the Brora Course.

Brora is a bucket lister. Designed by the legendary James Braid, in an outrageous setting, and with various challenges, this round is pure entertainment.

This is why golfers make the pilgrimage to Scotland.

Don’t be disappointed if you score higher than usual; Brora can be harsh and unforgiving.

It’s no secret many legendary links have Old Tom Morris’s name attached. Shaping the fairways around the natural coastal landscape, Tain Golf Club’s undulating terrain is perfect.

Our favourite hole is the 13th because of the birdie opportunity.

Finally, the Golspie Golf Course is unreal. As another James Braid design, the layout produces constant challenges, thrills, and idyllic views across 18 holes.

Beware of the closing hole, where the second shot is blind (thanks to a classic mound). Don’t be disappointed with a bogey to finish.

Inverness Airport is 63.4 miles from the hotel, so you should pre-book a transfer.

Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa

old-course-hotel

📍 St Andrews

Stay just a putting distance from the world’s first golf course on one of our best cheap golf holidays in Scotland.

Overlooking the fabled St Andrews Old Course, the views alone make this one of the most popular accommodations for a Scottish golf holiday.

With a state-of-the-art spa and golf’s famous pub, “The Jigger Inn”, the itinerary is packed outside the fairways.

Head down to this authentic pub, sip some ales, and tuck into a burger or fish and chips to recover.

The Duke’s Course has a prestigious reputation. As host of the 2014 European Amateur Championship, and the Scottish Men’s Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship 2019, it’s one of the best.

On top of this, buggies are included, and a free golf shuttle transfer takes you to the fairways.

Sorted.
