Top hint for this course
Here's a tip for the 4th. Although it's a par-3, take an extra club, as the length is deceiving. It's better to over-hit than under-hit. Don't experience the feared links bunkers this early in the round.
Full Course Lowdown
Champagne Scottish Links. It's an outstanding test of golf in its purest form, exactly as the pioneers intended. Prepare for perfection.
Rich in history, culture, and challenges, the Ailsa sets the standards for golf courses. Hit one of the leading links in the world and challenge the squad to your very own Open Championship. It's in your hands. Who will come out on top?
Course
Time to tackle the iconic terrain. The opener, a par-4, is a fair test to begin with. Drive with caution towards the middle of the fairway, and if set up correctly, your second stroke should be a simple approach shot.
In typical links fashion, the fairway on the 5th features 13 bunkers and a bumpy surface, so your club selection will be vital. Favour accuracy towards the end as the fairway narrows and bunkers crowd the front of the dancefloor.
Get ready for one of the world's most famous par-3s, with the historical lighthouse overlooking the fairway. This par-3, on the 9th, is not to be underestimated. Seriously. The length is a nightmare.
The 13th green is protected by a dogleg right. Aim short of the bunkers to the left, then hit a sweet approach shot towards the large dancefloor. Now, sink the putt like a pro.
On the closing hole, accuracy is important from the tee. Land between the first fairway bunkers before a shot towards the right side of the green. Anything left will require a difficult chip shot, so let's not make it complicated
Clubhouse
The facilities match the quality of the course. Before a drink, you must check out the proshop (it's Europe's largest). Grab yourself a souvenir, you earned it after that killer performance, and it's not an easy round.
"The Duel in the Sun" serves steak and lobster to plenty of other clubhouse classics-but you're playing an Open Championship venue, so surely the surf and turf is calling?
Sip your favourite beverage, discuss the action from the legendary round, and get a photo with the replica Claret Jug on display.Course Facilities
