Top hint for this course
On the 13th, the only par-5, the green has two bunkers on either side. If your shot favours the right side of the green, you should have a bunker-free approach shot.
Full Course Lowdown
Dalmahoy West is significantly shorter than the East loop, but this doesn't make it worse. It's favoured by those who prefer the short game because its shorter fairways will reward accurate drives off the tee and short game specialists.
The par 4s are particularly tough, but you'll hold your own. If your group is craving a loop similar to an executive course, this is the one. Grab your clubs and get swinging.
Course
On the 2nd, you face a slight dogleg left. If your drive is accurate and long, it shouldn't cause much trouble. The second shot should have a clear view of the green and a sweet approach shot will be calling. It's a good birdie opportunity (now's the time to place a birdie bet).
The end of the back nine holds a risk-reward factor. The dancefloor is reachable from the tee-off. But don't fluff your lines as landing in the bunkers on either side will add to your scorecard.
Similarly, the 17th is condensed, your approach shot could be from the tee-off. The bunkers surrounding the green will make you question your approach though. Some drive short to set up a chip approach shot instead.
The final hole isn't the most straightforward par-4. A large tree stands directly in front of the green, so you risk being a lumberjack if you aim directly for the dancefloor. Did we forget to mention the bunkers guarding the green too?
Clubhouse
Named after the legendary architect, the James Braid Bar offers many different services for all golfer's preferences. From breakfast with a Starbucks coffee to classic clubhouse meals and draft beer, this 19th hole has it all.
In the summer, if the Scottish weather behaves, a BBQ area is open on the balcony. Tuck into some scran before having an ice-cold pint and watching the live sport on offer through the big screens in the bar.
