Top hint for this course
On the 2nd par-4, hit a layup shot before the river. Avoid the two front bunkers on the approach, and you're sorted. Did somebody say birdie?
Full Course Lowdown
Tain Golf Course was built by the legendary Old Tom Morris. This guarantees a traditional round of golf on fairways rich with history, so if you fancy a challenge, look no further.
Distance won't succeed on this loop, so choose accuracy from the tee box to navigate the complex doglegs and blind approaches. It can be unforgiving. Prepare for a legendary round.
Course
On the opener, favour the left of the fairway to avoid the out-of-bounds. But, beware, the approach is difficult, so take an extra club.
The par-3 6th is straightforward. Aim towards the green with a mid-iron, as anything short will hit the sand or bounce off the mounds. Not ideal.
A harsh dogleg features at the 9th. Navigate this by aiming centrally before the approach. Big hitters can find the dancefloor in two.
The par-3 16th green is guarded by sand and water, so a dead straight shot from the tee box is needed.
Finishing with an easygoing par-4 is a nice surprise. Take caution for the well-guarded dancefloor, with out-of-bounds behind, and four bunkers.
Clubhouse
The Old Tom Morris Bar and Restaurant is renowned for top-rate service, and a lively and welcoming atmosphere for the ultimate relaxation after 18 holes.
Order from the impressive menu of locally sourced dishes or bar snacks and indulge in classic Scotch whiskey, just as The Grand Old Man of Golf intended.
Now that's an authentic Scottish golf experience.Course Facilities

The Location
Tain Golf Course is located on the outskirts of Tain, a historical Highland town.
This area is primed and ready for a rustic Scottish golf trip: insane architecture, cosy pubs, and famous whiskey distilleries. It's a dream visit to golf's motherland.
At the heart of the town centre are plenty of accommodation options for all budgets.
As for golf courses, you're spoilt. Dornoch Firth is jam-packed with authentic links courses that most people dream of playing, but it can be a reality.
Inverness Airport is 41.2 miles from the course, so book a taxi in advance to get there.
