Top Courses in the Algarve
The Algarve is home to many legendary courses, so get the group together, pack your clubs, and have the golf holiday of a lifetime. Each loop boasts a unique character and has the Mediterranean sun to complement it.
Whether you pick the South Course at Quinta do Lago to play your very own Open or choose one of the luxury Dom Pedro courses, it's guaranteed action. You don't want to miss out on these. They're awesome.
Best Algarve Golf Packages
The Algarve not only boasts many of the best loops in Europe, but the hotels are world-class, whatever your budget. Several of these have the courses on their doorstep. Others are only a par 3 away from your accommodation.
These packages make sorting your holiday so easy, it's a "gimme!". The hotel and courses are booked together and then paid individually. So, you don't need to collect money from your group after paying the lump sum. It's a hole-in-one package.
The Course We Recommend
While all courses in the Algarve live up to their cream of the crop status, everybody has their favourites. Ours is the South Course at Quinta Do Lago.
Having hosted the Portuguese Open eight times, being a course with varied challenges and hazards, and perfect for a group of mixed-level handicaps, it's clear to see why it's our favourite. Check it out and let us know how you find it.
What To Do in the Algarve
Make no mistake about it. Although the Algarve is world-renowned for golf, there's so much more to it. Golden sand beaches, crystal blue waters, and low cliff coasts make it the ultimate getaway destination. All idyllic sceneries to nurse those morning sore heads…
The Algarve is famous for its sublime restaurants, with breathtaking views and menus that will send any foodies crazy. You'll become familiar with many local delights and tapas, while home comforts are also on offer. Wash it down with an ice-cold Portuguese beer. Are you team Super Bock or team Sagres?
Many cities within this region such as Albufeira brag about an excellent nightlife selection of lively bars, sublime restaurants and nightclubs that bang out tunes until late at night (or should we say until the early morning).
Algarve Travel Information
It takes roughly just under three hours to fly from England to Faro International Airport. From there (traffic dependent):
- Quinta do Lago is 20 minutes
- Dom Pedro is 30 minutes
- Pestana Golf Resort is 50 minutes
While all you could need for entertainment surrounds these areas, hopping on the bus is effective, reliable, and saves cashola for local brews. Taxis are slightly more expensive, but they are another good way of getting to that nightclub you've been itching to get to all day. Look here for more information.
Algarve Weather
During peak season (July to September) the weather rarely drops below 20°C, with highs of about 28°C. Out of season, the average is around 12°C. Famously, the Algarve has 3,000 hours of sun per year.
Either way, the weather is the ultimate compliment to the Algarve's top-tier golfing terrains.
