Top hint for this course

We're going to let you in on a top tip for the course, as we understand booking the trip can be a pain. On the 14th, drive to the right of the fairway as it avoids the rocks and sets up a much smoother downhill pitch shot than from the left.

Full Course Lowdown

Nick Price and Ronald Fream built a course that challenges accuracy and more importantly club selection knowledge.

Try not to crumble under pressure. Those in the group with the highest golfing IQ will trump this one.

It'll be a laugh watching your heavy-handed friend take this one on. The course rewards those with sexy technique but still welcomes handicap golfers of all levels.

Get stuck in and play your own PGA Championship with the ultimate winning prize: beer.

Course

The terrain on this course is smooth with slight level changes. It's favoured by many visitors as its design makes a shorter but sweeter course.

The 2nd is a testing par-5 with pine trees towering over the fairway. Drive to the right and don't be afraid to use the second shot as a lay-up.

The 6th is often disrupted by wind, so this is where club selection becomes key. Whoever is smartest with their club choice in the heat of the moment will come out on top of this hole.

Near the start of the back nine, the 11th requires a bit of a zig-zag approach to avoid the many cleverly placed obstacles.

On the 17th, just smash the tee up the fairway. It's your best chance of setting up a smoother second shot for this par-4.

Clubhouse

Gramacho's clubhouse is like no other. If you fancy a break from the Mediterranean sun by escaping in the welcoming interior or sightseeing on the luxurious terrace and its crystal blue waters, this 19th hole has both.

Either way, we know you'll have a pint in one hand and your scorecard in the other to celebrate an excellent round and analyse the highlights with the team.

This clubhouse is famous for its excellent service. Order some tapas to tide you over or get stuck into other Portuguese classics to recharge before heading out.
