Top hint for this course
Let's give you a tip for the opener. Aim the tee shot down the left side of the fairway, as this avoids the mounding that protects the green.
Full Course Lowdown
If the golf-fanatic locals of St Andrews favour this one, then you can bet everything that it's champagne golf. After all, the residents in the home of golf know what they're talking about.
Also a clear favourite with mixed-ability groups, this one accommodates the beginner golfer while challenging the advanced. Fewer bunkers and shorter yardage make this one less intimidating.
Course
The 3rd, a par-3, is quite harsh. On the right, deep contours complicate the approach, and the green has three tiers and slopes back to front. Take your time on this one. Seriously.
At the end of the front nine, favour the left of the fairway for the easiest approach shot. If the pin is placed at the back of the green, be careful, as anything overhit will find trouble. The heavy-handed will have an absolute nightmare.
Now for a risk-reward hole. The brave will aim for the two bunkers, just clearing them, for the easiest putt and a birdie chance. Cautious golfers will prepare a lay-up instead.
To finish, keep right on the fairway while avoiding the road for the easiest approach. Don't hit a wayward shot left and hit the bunker, you can't bottle it on the last hole!
Clubhouse
Now it's time to reward yourself. Grab the huge fillet steak and wash it back with authentic Scotch whiskey-the meal of champions. If whiskey isn't your jam, don't sweat it, the array of cocktails and draught beers has got your back.Course Facilities
