Top hint for this course
We get the hassle you're going through - booking for the entire group - so, we thought we'd share a top tip for the course. On the 13th, tee off accurately to the right to avoid the dogleg. This will set you up for a straightforward second shot as the dancefloor will be in sight.
Full Course Lowdown
The Roman Road course is the oldest of the three available at the resort. While the famous Twenty Ten course takes the limelight, the Roman Road should not be forgotten.
It's an underrated course that's more friendly to the higher handicap. Even the average duffer.
The expertly maintained fairways and green make for an awesome round. The length does mean that long hitters are favoured, but those who enjoy putting and chipping will also be rewarded.
Course
The 2nd is a perfect opportunity to flex your driving skills. Its openness allows you to teach the squad a lesson on gaining distance towards the pin. There's room to place some bets on who can drive the furthest on this one. The loser gets the first round on the 19th!
On the 8th there's a lovely par-4. It may be tempting to drive off to the right to set up the second shot. Instead, drive slightly to the left to avoid the beach. After all, you don't want to add to the scorecard by chipping out the bunker and taking chunks out of the sand.
Roughly halfway through the back nine, a lovely par-3 will test your accuracy and weight of shot off the tee. Directly in front of the dancefloor, a bunker is guarding it. Do you overhit and potentially pass the green, or under-hit and then chip over the bunker for a sexy approach shot?

Clubhouse
This luxury clubhouse is the perfect place to unwind. All three courses share the same clubhouse - which makes for a lively atmosphere. It's one of the most legendary 19th holes in Europe, so kick-back and reward yourself with some brews.
From the many options for dining, two different bars for you to conquer, and a lovely view from the balcony that overlooks one of the 18th holes. It's the perfect place to have a beer and refuel with some top-tier food. Dissect the action, laugh at each other's chipping game, and get the rounds in.

The Location
The Roman Road course is in Newport at the Celtic Manor Resort. It's only 5.3 miles from Newport Train Station and driveable from anywhere in the UK. As well as the beautiful Celtic Manor Resort, there are many surrounding hotels to stay in.
Take a trip to Cardiff, only 16.5km away, and perfect if you love a lively atmosphere. Lots of trendy restaurants are accompanied by the many bars and nightclubs open until the early hours of the morning. The swing oil doesn't have to stop when the 19th shuts.
