Top hint for this course

On the 12th, a bunker is carefully placed in the middle. It's better to aim your drive to the right side of the fairway, avoiding the first tree and the bunker in the centre. From here, we'll let your short game do the talking.

Full Course Lowdown

Famous for its troubling water hazards throughout, particularly the signature 14th hole, with two rivers to cross, it'll even test the friend who brags about their low handicap.

Can all of you avoid drowning your ball? It'll be funny watching that friend constantly need a drop ball. Whoever hits the water hazards the most gets the first round of swing oil at the 19th?

Course

The opener tees off in front of a crowd, so no pressure. It's a par-4 where cautious play might be favoured. A bunker in the middle of the fairway, and two bunkers on either side of the green make a lay-up shot much easier than driving straight for the green.

On the 6th, you face a slight dogleg left with a river directly in front. A clean drive will clear the river and land in the middle of the fairway. Be sure to favour the left side on your second shot.

A short par-4 opens the back nine. Big swingers can hit the green from tee-off. If you manage this, avoiding the bunkers and the trees, there's a birdie opportunity.

The 13th presents a double challenge. You must avoid the river, so the weight and accuracy of your shot are vital. Your second shot should be straightforward, as the dancefloor is in sight.

Clubhouse

Now it's time to reward yourself with some swing oil. It's the least you deserve after out-classing the team on the fairways.

Count up the scorecards and figure out the forfeits for the duffer of the round with a pint in hand and discuss the action. If you're thinking of heading out afterwards, why not line your stomach with some bar snacks?

The Location

This underrated gem is located in Chepstow, which is an excellent area for all the essentials. Both affordable and high-quality hotels and restaurants are scattered around the area like bunkers on a fairway. Except you won't avoid these ones.

As for nearby nightlife, we've got one word for you. Bristol. If you don't have fun on a night out in Bristol, you've not done it right.

It's notorious for an action-packed atmosphere, whether you want world-class nightclubs open until the early hours of the morning or sublime breweries with local ales and ciders. Why not try both?
