Top hint for this course

As you're the one booking the whole trip, we thought we'd let you in on a secret tip about this course. On the 16th, accurate placement off the tee is key. If done correctly, we recommend using a long iron to approach the green. This will set up a smooth chance for a par.

Full Course Lowdown

The Montgomerie Course was built alongside the legendary Twenty Ten, but it doesn't mean this one isn't the bees-knees. It's challenging and it will test the gang's strategy. The layout by Colin Montgomerie can only inspire a round to remember.

Be sure to bring your a-game to this one. Montgomerie had the lower handicap golfers in mind whilst building this. Take on the Ryder Cup legend's challenge and see if you can show the course what you're made of.

Course

Starting with the 3rd, this hole is one of the most famous you'll ever play. It appeared in the highly recognised "1001 Golf Holes You Must Play Before You Die". Playing this hole is one to brag about back at your local club.

The 16th is also a visitor's favourite. Towards the end of the back nine, accuracy off the tee is essential for a chance of getting a par. It's recommended to use your long iron to approach the dancefloor.

On the 11th, this is widely renowned as the best par-5 of the course. The water hazard makes driving off the tee a real risk and reward hole. It may be tempting to attack this head-on, but a more cautious approach could avoid the water and land on the green.

Clubhouse

All three of Celtic Manor's courses share the same clubhouse. Do you know what that means? A welcoming and lively atmosphere with a buzzing crowd of golfers. You'll feel right at home in this 19th hole.

Whether you wish to stuff your face or get going on the brews available, this clubhouse is perfect to reset before you attack the activities ahead in the day. Get your forfeits prepared for the loser when you hit the town whilst getting the rounds in.

The Location

This gem of a course is in Newport, alongside the other two in Celtic Manor Resort. It couldn't be closer to Newport Train Station and is close to the border with England. So, it's accessible by car if that's the group's choice of travel. When it comes to hotels you are spoilt for choice when it comes to options nearby.

If you love a night out, Cardiff is a great place for it. The nightlife is buzzing, with bars and nightclubs open until late at night. It's elite and only 16.5 miles away, which is easily done in an early morning taxi.
