Golf Resorts & Hotels in East England

Why Play Golf in East England?

Not every golf trip needs to revolve around bucket-list courses and packed itineraries. East England suits groups who want a smoother, more relaxed golf weekend without compromising on quality.

The region is packed with comfortable golf resorts, playable courses and easy-to-reach locations that make organising a group trip far simpler. Less driving. Less stress. More time actually enjoying the weekend.

It's also one of the better regions in England for mixed groups. The golf is enjoyable without being punishing, which keeps rounds competitive without turning the trip into a survival test by the back nine.

Stay-and-Play Golf That Actually Feels Easy

One of East England's biggest strengths is how well its golf resorts work for group trips.

Places like Wyboston Lakes Resort, Dunston Hall and Sprowston Manor combine golf, accommodation, food and leisure facilities all in one place. That means no complicated transfers, no splitting the group across different hotels and no wasting half the weekend travelling between tee times.

For organisers, that's a huge win.

Most packages also work perfectly for:

  • One-night golf breaks
  • Two-night golf weekends
  • Golf society trips
  • Corporate golf
  • Relaxed mates weekends

Wyboston Lakes Resort

Near Cambridge, Wyboston Lakes Resort is one of the region's most flexible golf-break options. The course is scenic, enjoyable and ideal for groups wanting a sociable round rather than relentless punishment off the tee.

The real appeal, though, is the overall setup. Everything sits onsite, creating an easy weekend flow from check-in to final putt. Golf, drinks, dinner and spa facilities are all within walking distance, which makes it especially popular for short golf breaks.

Golf Around Norwich

Norwich has quietly become one of the strongest golf-break bases in East England.

Dunston Hall Golf Resort and Sprowston Manor both offer classic parkland golf with a more traditional country-club atmosphere. Tree-lined fairways, mature layouts and relaxed clubhouse settings make these resorts particularly good for longer weekends where the group wants more than just golf alone.

Evenings tend to feel calmer here, too. Less "party destination", more good food, drinks and stories from the day's round.

For many groups, that's exactly the balance they're after.

What Makes East England Different?

East England doesn't try too hard - and that's part of the appeal.

The golf feels less commercial than some major UK golf regions, while the resorts still deliver the comfort and facilities groups actually want on a weekend away.

It's also incredibly practical for golfers travelling from:

  • London
  • The Midlands
  • The South East
  • East Anglia

That accessibility makes the region ideal for quick golf getaways where nobody wants to spend half the weekend stuck in traffic.

Beyond the Golf

The golf may be the reason for the trip, but the resorts here make the downtime just as enjoyable.

Many East England golf resorts include:

  • Spas
  • Bars and restaurants
  • Leisure facilities
  • Outdoor terraces
  • Relaxed clubhouse spaces

That broader experience makes the region work especially well for mixed groups and golfers who want the trip to feel like a proper break, not just 36 holes a day followed by sleep.

Best Time to Visit

Late spring through early autumn offers the best overall conditions for golf in East England, with May to September being particularly popular for golf weekends.

That said, many of the region's resort courses remain playable year-round, making East England a strong option for off-season golf breaks too - especially when value becomes part of the conversation.
