Full Course Lowdown

Deerpark is one of two world-class courses on the Fota Island Resort, having hosted the Irish Open on three separate occasions. This classic parkland loop is famous for perfect conditions year-round.

At 6,488 yards and a par of 71, it boasts enjoyable playability for all handicaps. And with iconic holes like the 18th, a tree-lined fairway towards a semi-island green, this is a round you won't forget.

With top-tier practice facilities, a luxury resort, and just a short ride from Cork city centre, this location is iconic for an action-packed golf trip.

Course

Let's start with the 10th. This 490-yard par-5 features a hidden green around the dogleg left. Any slice could be costly with the tree-lined fairway, so favour accuracy and keep straight (if you've got that in your locker).

On the second stroke, aim central to remove the dogleg and prepare for an easy approach to the dancefloor--don't overhit it or you'll lose your Pro V1 in the water!

Hole 13 is harsh if you ask us--but there's a reason it hosted the Irish Open. At 203 yards, this par-3 requires accuracy, with three bunkers guarding the dancefloor and a lake to the left.

Simply enter the green from the front to land near the pin.

Finally, the signature 18th hole: 504 yards of tree-lined fairway and water taking any overhit approaches.

If you have a high handicap, a hybrid or wood might be better off the tee to avoid the trees.

Cover the distance, use a long iron for the second stroke, then approach carefully; it's better to under-hit to avoid a penalty.

Clubhouse

The clubhouse at Fota Island is subject to seasonal hours, so check before you arrive to avoid disappointment.

Fota Island's 19th maintains Cork's reputation as the food capital of Ireland, serving classic dishes made with local ingredients. The Irish Artisan Pizza is a favourite for regulars.

If you're lucky enough to experience banging weather, grab your favourite pint, soak up the sun on the spacious terrace, catch up with the gang after your round, and laugh at the bunker fails.

Near the clubhouse is the pro shop, providing a cracking selection of apparel and equipment, so why not treat yourself with a cheeky souvenir?
