Full Course Lowdown

Barryscourt is a much more forgiving course than its neighbour, Deerpark. While accuracy is needed to navigate the fairways, it offers a chance to score lower for high-handicappers, making it suitable for a mixed-ability group.

As the longest course on Fota Island, with water hazards, harsh bunkers, and testing greens, all aspects of your game will be tested. This parkland loop is a must-try in Cork.

Found on the five-star Fota Island Resort, 16k from Cork city centre, this is the ultimate stay-and-play location for a Cork golf trip. Are you ready to make your Ireland golf trip dreams a reality?

Course

Barryscourts' opener is a narrow, lengthy par-5 with a tree-lined fairway and a slight dogleg, so try to leave the slice back at home. Aim towards the left bunker from the tee to reveal the green.

Use a long iron for the approach towards the pin and favour the right to avoid the sand.

Now, for the signature hole. Barryscourts' gem, the 8th, is a 168-yard par-3 played over an old quarry towards an angled dancefloor.

Carry over the drink and you could be in for a birdie opp! Lots of golfers talk about this one afterwards; it might just be one of the most difficult at the resort.

On the 13th, a par-5 features a dogleg right and a well-protected green.

Once you clear the angle and reveal the pin, higher handicappers should hit a layup shot before chipping towards the flag.

Low-handicappers can approach from a distance, but anything overhit could get lost in the woods.

Clubhouse

Please note that the clubhouse is subject to seasonal hours, so check the opening hours when you arrive.

After your round, indulge in the famous Irish Artisan Piza, a favourite among locals, and wash this back with a rewarding pint of swing oil.

The 19th boasts a large outdoor terrace, which is an ideal setting in the summer.

On top of this, the pro shop offers a quality range of equipment and apparel, which is basically begging for you to buy a golf trip souvenir.
