Overview

The Lost City Golf Course Club is golf with a real sense of adventure. Set at Sun City in South Africa's North West Province, it sits just below The Palace of the Lost City, with the Pilanesberg hills all around. It's rugged, beautiful and completely unique. If you're playing Gary Player Country Club, Lost City Golf Course is the perfect second round!

The Course

Designed by Gary Player and opened in 1993, Lost City Golf Course measures 6,983 metres (7,637 yards) from the championship tees and plays to a par of 72. It covers more than 100 hectares of open, undulating bushveld, with rocky ridges and red earth giving it a striking desert style look.

The fairways are wider and more open than at Gary Player Country Club, but strategic bunkering, elevation changes and plenty of water make it a proper test. Around 28,000 square metres of lakes and water features come into play, especially on the closing holes. We love how different it feels from its famous neighbour!

Signature Holes

Hole 13: Par 3, The Crocodile Hole
One of the most photographed holes in Africa. Your tee shot must carry a lake that's home to real crocodiles, some around two metres long, to a green shaped like the African continent. Don't even think about retrieving a ball from the water!

Holes 9 and 18: The Lakeside Finish
A series of lakes separates the 9th green from the 18th, with both holes finishing in front of the clubhouse terrace. Water, rocks and an audience make for a dramatic end to each nine. Hit the green and enjoy the applause!

The Clubhouse

The clubhouse at Lost City Golf Course is home to the Crocodile Lounge, which serves breakfast, light meals and drinks with views over the 9th and 18th greens. There's also a restaurant, bar, pro shop, changing rooms and lockers.

A halfway house keeps you refreshed during your round, and The Palace of the Lost City is just a short walk away.

The Location

Lost City Golf Club is located at Sun City Resort in South Africa's North West Province, a short walk from The Palace of the Lost City and on the edge of the Pilanesberg National Park. Johannesburg's O.R. Tambo International Airport is roughly two and a half hours away by road, and Gary Player Country Club is right next door, making it easy to play both courses on one trip. Add a game drive in the Pilanesberg and you've got the perfect golf and safari break.
