Overview

Hacienda Riquelme Golf Club is a Nicklaus Design course set in peaceful countryside near the village of Sucina, between the Sierra de Columbares foothills and the Mediterranean. Wide fairways make it look welcoming - but don't be fooled! With five lakes, deep bunkers and tricky greens, Hacienda Riquelme Golf Club is one of the most rewarding challenges in Murcia.

The Course

Designed by Nicklaus Design and opened in 2008, Hacienda Riquelme Golf Club measures 6,356 metres (6,951 yards) from the back tees and plays to a par of 72. Five large lakes come into play, and the layout weaves through olive trees, wild flowers and natural meadows retained from the original landscape.

Fairways are wider than average, so you can swing freely off the tee. The real test is what comes next. Some bunkers are up to three metres deep, and the multi-tiered greens punish loose approaches. We love it; it rewards smart golf, not just big hitting. The Paspalum grass also stays in excellent condition all year round.

Signature Holes

Hole 9 - Lakeside Dogleg
A dogleg with a lake running all the way down the right-hand side; slicers beware! The green is guarded by water and large bunkers, so position your tee shot carefully and commit to the approach.

Hole 18 - The Finale
The narrowest fairway on the course, with water running along the left. Reaching the green in regulation is only half the job - the contours mean a two-putt is never guaranteed. A brilliant closing hole!

The Clubhouse

The clubhouse at Hacienda Riquelme Golf Club has a restaurant, bar, pro shop and locker rooms, everything you need before and after your round. Kick back after 18 holes with a cold drink and some local food.

The resort itself is built around El Casón de Riquelme, a restored historic manor house, which gives the whole place a lovely sense of character.
