The Welcombe Golf Club is an underrated woodlands gem, ready to expose any slices off the tee with narrow tree-lined fairways and harshly placed bunkers.
At 6,149 yards, this undulating track is a top challenge--don't be deceived by the par. Accuracy and IQ are essential for respectable scorecards, so prepare to bring your A-game.
Take advantage of the TrackMan Launch Monitor and putting green before the round or visit the pro shop for all the latest gear.
The fairway is incredibly narrow, so don't let the first tee nerves get to you or you'll be punching out of the trees. Next, land before the first bunker.
Thankfully, the fairway opens from here, so cover the distance and prepare for a well-protected green.
At the start of the back nine, a par-4, aim to the right of the left bunker off the elevated tee to clear the harsh dogleg and reveal the dancefloor.
A classic par-5 finishes the round. Measuring 496 yards, open your shoulders and land between the two bunkers at the start. Afterwards, favour the left of the fairway for an easy approach.
This is a potential birdie opportunity for long hitters, so favour accuracy towards the pin.
