Top hint for this course

Here's a tip for the final hole. On this par-4, a harsh dogleg right hides the dancefloor, and the fairway is narrow to begin with. Use a hybrid to cut the dogleg and hit a layup shot short of the water. From here, the approach is easier.

Full Course Lowdown

It's a rare opportunity to play on a round designed by the GOAT, so how could you refuse? The fairways are suited for the high handicappers and the seasoned pros. No wonder it's popular.

Although it's suitable for mixed groups-don't worry-it doesn't sacrifice the quality or challenges. From the water hazards to the tricky greens, the strategically placed bunkers to the undulating fairways, this is the ultimate test for the group.

Course

The 1st allows you to ease into the round. Watch out for the bunker guarding the front of the green. It's best to hit the right of the dancefloor.

A harshly narrow fairway on the 4th demands accuracy from the tee box. Use a mid-iron to favour accuracy over distance and hit the left of the green to avoid the bunkers.

At the end of the back nine, tactical navigation is key. Remove the dogleg angle by aiming slightly left of the fairway, which will reveal the dancefloor and allow an easy approach. Slicers might have trouble with the bunkers.

On the 12th, put your drivers away. Favour a hybrid for accuracy, the fairway is incredibly narrow, and finding your way out of the forest is a nightmare. And that's without mentioning the water guarding the bunker.

The penultimate hole is a par-4 with another dogleg. An accurate drive to the centre left of the fairway should allow for an easy approach shot, but don't be a lumberjack, and avoid the tree in the middle.

Clubhouse

The 19th hole, The Nicklaus Bar, is designed to unwind, enjoy local brews, and overlook the final pin you conquered. In the sunny months, the sun beams onto the terrace, so you can top up your tan while analysing the action.

If the weather is typically English, then head indoors and watch the live sports on the big screens. The lively setting is the perfect spot to grab a snack and plan the evening.
