Full Course Lowdown
An absolute belter of a course located in Maidstone; the Woosnam course challenges the seasoned pro to the beginner duffer. Designed by Ryder Cup legend, Ian Woosnam, you're guaranteed a clever layout.
Mixed-ability groups flock to Maidstone to conquer the undulated fairways with cleverly placed bunkers and troubling water hazards. Who will come out victorious in your very own Ryder Cup?
Course
Teeing off at the first is simple. Favour a straight drive to avoid the hazards on either flank, then favour the right with the second shot for the approach. It's better to overhit than under-hit towards the green here, as bunkers protect the front.
Hole 5 is a par-3 but can be an absolute nightmare if you play incorrectly. Take a mid-iron from the centre and consider the left-to-right slope on the dancefloor.
The 9th is a dogleg right where favouring the left is vital. From here, the approach is downhill, over water and towards a well-protected green, so aim for the centre and you'll be sorted.
Watch out, the 13th is a stroke hole one. Favour the right side of the fairways for a shot towards a bunkered green. Beware of the slope on the right side of the dancefloor, so aim left for safety.
An easy finish on the 18th. A par-5 where big swingers will achieve the distance in two; aim for the clubhouse and avoid the out-of-bounds to the left.
Clubhouse
A real golfers' clubhouse. Everything a 19th could need: live sport, a pool table, and swing oil. What an atmosphere to count the scorecards and discuss the action from the fairways.
For those feeling fancy, you can book an afternoon tea ahead of time; but you can't go wrong with a clubhouse classic sandwich and chips to line the stomach.
