Top hint for this course

As it was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the approach shot is nothing short of a sandy nightmare as bunkers guard almost all of the greens. We suggest you play the loop with caution. Use your skills to hit layup shots before the bunkers rather than approaching the green directly.

Full Course Lowdown

Right, we hope you brought your a-game when it comes to chipping. Many reviews of the course can't recall a round with as many bunkers as this one, so avoid them like that one guy who avoids getting the beers at the 19th.

Save getting your feet sandy for the beach later by using cautious methods for approach shots. It's a unique course with doglegs throughout, so it's not a straightforward round.

Show your friends a thing or two about the weight and placement of shots out on these challenging fairways.

Course

The opening hole is a prime example of Jones Senior's classic layout. He didn't skimp out on the bunkers. There are eight sand traps surrounding the green on this difficult par-5, with a tree isolated in the middle of the fairway. Favour the left side to avoid most of the hazards.

The 7th holds a harsh dogleg right. The green is hidden, so driving down the centre left of the fairway should expose the dancefloor. Yep, you guessed it, more strategically placed bunkers are protecting the green. Hit a layup shot to approach this one. A par would impress the team (and earn a beer).

The 16th relaxes slightly on the bunkers. The start of the par-4 has an avoidable bunker with a shot down the left of the fairway. From the second shot, if you aim for the left half of the green, you're in the money. Time for the short game.

Clubhouse

Heading to the 19th is everybody's favourite part.

You'll find yourself getting lost in the comfort of the modern clubhouse. It has a stunning view that overlooks the opening and closing holes.

The menu offers an authentic experience of Portuguese cuisine, so prepare to line your stomach with fresh seafood, and analyse the round over a bottle of wine as you plan the bar crawl for the evening ahead.
