Overview

Leopard Creek Country Club is a bucket-list South African golf experience set right on the edge of Kruger National Park, with the Crocodile River shaping the drama and the atmosphere. It opened in 1996 and delivers that rare mix of exclusivity, immaculate conditioning, and genuine "wild Africa" scenery. You don't just play a round here-you feel it. And yes, wildlife sightings can happen, which makes every tee shot a little more memorable!

The Course

Designed by Gary Player (with Phil Jacobs), Leopard Creek Country Club is a par 72 championship test that rewards smart placement and disciplined approach play. From the back tees it measures about 7,288 yards (around 6,657 meters), and it never lets you switch off for long. Fairways invite you in, then angles, hazards, and green complexes demand precision. I'd describe it as strategic, scenic, and unapologetically premium-exactly what golfers expect when they come to Leopard Creek.

Signature Holes

Hole 13 is the headline act. It's widely celebrated as the standout, running beside the Crocodile River with the green perched high above the water and clear views into Kruger-pure theatre!

Hole 18 is a brilliant closer that many golfers also call a signature. It's a risk-reward finishing par 5 with a nerve-testing approach that can turn a great round into an unforgettable one.

The Clubhouse

The clubhouse at Leopard Creek Country Club matches the course: polished, comfortable, and built for a proper post-round reset. Expect premium spaces to relax, a well-stocked pro shop, and strong hospitality that makes the "19th hole" feel like part of the experience, not an afterthought. It's the kind of finish that has groups replaying their best shots (and their biggest mistakes!) before the drinks even arrive.

The Location

Leopard Creek Country Club is located in Malelane, Mpumalanga, on the southern boundary of Kruger National Park in South Africa. The course runs alongside the Crocodile River, with several holes offering direct views into the park's wilderness. It sits approximately a four- to five-hour drive from Johannesburg and just a short distance from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, making it surprisingly accessible for international golf travellers. The setting is uniquely African-bushveld landscapes, wildlife sightings, and uninterrupted natural scenery combine to create one of the most distinctive golf locations in the world.
