Top hint for this course

On the 2nd, we recommend driving down the centre left of the fairway. This avoids falling into the water hazards and the bunkers on the far left. If you have some good distance from the drive, you should have a sweet approach shot waiting for you.

Full Course Lowdown

Killeen Castle hosts so many challenges. The Irish terrain creates a difficult and unique golfing experience that all level handicap golfers can enjoy.

It's built by the great Jack Nicklaus, so you're never short of awkwardly yet strategically placed hazards that throw off your approach.

It's a must-play in Dublin. Get the gang together and have it out on a challenging course.

Course

Right from the get-go, Jack Nicklaus' design will test your group's driving accuracy.

This par-4 hole seems straightforward, but anything other than a central and precise drive will take you to the beach. If you avoided the bunkers, the next strokes should be fairly easy.

On the 8th, a classic par-3 tempts you to aim straight for the green. While this will set up a birdie opportunity, the fairway narrows around the green, meaning an out-of-bounds could easily fluff up your scorecard.

The end of the back nine is a classic finishing hole. A difficult dogleg left created by the forest hides the dancefloor, so drive to the right side of the fairway, avoid the trees, and set up a simple second shot.

Clubhouse

The Jack Nicklaus Lounge hosts an excellent range of food from pizzas to curry. With an outdoor dining area, you'll feel right at home in its relaxed atmosphere after a round with the gang.

Sit back with a Guinness and take a look back at the action from the loop.

  • Clubhouse
  • Proshop

The Location

Killeen Castle is only 36.8km from Dublin Airport. You'll be able to book a tee-off time reasonably soon after you land and still have time left over for activities.

The city centre of Dublin is 38km away, so you can get stuck into everything it offers. From heaving bars with live music and rich history, to a range of popular restaurants. The possibilities are endless.

You can't forget the Guinness tour either. It's a classic.
