Overview

Hermanus Golf Club is one of the Western Cape's most enjoyable coastal golf experiences. Located just minutes from the famous whale-watching town of Hermanus, this championship layout blends mountain scenery, ocean air, and superb conditioning.

Originally founded in 1907 and later redesigned by renowned architect Peter Matkovich, Hermanus Golf Club offers a modern, well-balanced test of golf. The course plays to par 72 and stretches to around 6,200 metres, rewarding accuracy and smart course management.

It's scenic. It's strategic. And it's a must-play when visiting South Africa's famous Garden Route region.

The Course

The layout at Hermanus Golf Club is a classic parkland design, framed by mature trees and the dramatic backdrop of the Overberg mountains.

Fairways are generous in places, but don't be fooled. Strategic bunkering and well-protected greens demand precise approaches. Miss your targets and recovery shots quickly become interesting!

What makes Hermanus Golf Club special is the balance. It's challenging enough for experienced players, yet still enjoyable for visiting golfers looking for a memorable round in a spectacular setting.

Expect pristine greens, excellent conditioning, and a relaxed coastal atmosphere throughout the course.

Signature Holes

7th Hole - Par 4

One of the most picturesque holes at Hermanus Golf Club. This testing par four requires a controlled tee shot to avoid the fairway bunkers before a demanding approach to a well-guarded green. A true risk-and-reward moment!

18th Hole - Par 4

A fantastic finishing hole. The closing hole at Hermanus Golf Club asks for one final accurate drive before a challenging approach to the clubhouse green. It's a great spot for spectators-and the perfect stage to finish your round.

The Clubhouse

The welcoming clubhouse at Hermanus Golf Club completes the experience. After your round, relax on the terrace and soak in the views across the course and surrounding mountains.

Inside, you'll find excellent dining, a well-stocked pro shop, and friendly service that reflects the club's long history and reputation.

Play a great course. Enjoy the scenery. Then raise a drink to a memorable round at Hermanus Golf Club!
