Top hint for this course
On the 6th, a mid-distance par-5 requires teeing off over water to gain the best distance. After you've carried over the water hazard, be cautious of the mound to the right of the green, most people fall for this and add to their scorecard.
Full Course Lowdown
Many claim this course is the most picturesque in Southwest England. It's a stunning setting after all.
Designed by "The Voice of Golf" Peter Alliss, it's a great tribute to have a cracking round here with the gang.
The wide range of challenges from the water hazards, bunkers, and doglegs, it's a complete challenge.
Even the scratch golfer will leave feeling tested. Get all the squad together and have it out on this countryside gem.
It'll be a round to remember, so be sure to pack your lucky clubs and get on those dancefloors.
Course
Teeing off at the first is pleasant. A straightforward par-4, with the only complication being the trees that slightly narrow the fairway in the middle. It opens back up again, and the green is easily accessible. A great chance for a par.
The 5th is a meaty par-5, with a dogleg left and two bunkers halfway making it difficult to navigate. Carry over the bunkers to reveal the green, which might require a layup shot before the approach. Don't be disappointed with a bogey here.
The 11th is a difficult par-3. Don't be deceived by the downhill slope, it can easily throw you into danger. The out-of-bounds to the left and woods to the right, alongside the bunkers surrounding the green make this approach a test of your accuracy.
The 17th is the feature hole. A 120-foot drop down to the green makes this a different challenge to the rest.
Clubhouse
This 19th hole is as satisfying as the 17th. TVs for watching sports? Check. A bar serving a wide range of beers? Yep. A classic heart warming menu to refill? Of course.
Have a chicken tikka curry with all the works to line your stomach before an afternoon of drinking.
It's an excellent location for recalling the action, checking over your friend's dodgy scorecard, and settling the forfeits for the hackers of the round. What an ending to a championship loop.
