Top hint for this course

For long hitters, the 2nd green is reachable in two. While the second shot is uphill, the distance is shorter than it seems, so don't over-club because of the hill.

Full Course Lowdown

Many recognise Machrihanish as one of the world's most authentic links. The natural landscape, undulated terrain, and earthy track speaks for itself. It's sublime.

Unlike many traditional links in Scotland, this one is friendly to higher handicaps, with a reasonable yardage and a 70-par. What are you waiting for? Swing into action.

Course

To kick off, it's one of golf's most exciting openers. This par-4 can be completed in two strokes, so begin with a firm drive to the centre of the fairway before hitting an approach to the green.

The 4th par-3 is no pushover. Use your top-tier golf knowledge to choose the best club for this distance and avoid the sand. You can't hit a bunker this early, surely…

At the 9th, this par-4 is riddled with mounds, so favour accuracy off the tee and hit slightly left. Be careful with the approach, the dancefloor is well-guarded.

Another par-3 on the 11th is a test of club selection. On this elevated green, favour the back to avoid deep links bunkers.

To finish, there's a potential birdie. Hit a scorcher down this par-4 and land near the dancefloor--but avoid the left bunkers. Now, an easy approach. Don't slip up!

Clubhouse

Before your round, enjoy a full breakfast with all the trimmings to fuel your win.

Or, after your round, indulge in clubhouse classics from scampi and chips to homemade pies to reward yourself. You should also check out the wine list, it would be rude not to…

Grab your favourite beverage and soak up the stunning view of the coast.
