Why Book Wales for a Golf Holiday

Since the Celtic Manor "The Twenty Ten" course hosted the 2010 Ryder Cup, where Graeme McDowell secured the winning point in the final match, Wales has increased in popularity for golf holidays.

While this certainly helped, Wales is home to many five-star golfing resorts, so we're not surprised about its surge in popularity. Many guys head to Cardiff or Newport to experience world-class golf and outstanding nightlife.

The Wales Golf Experience

All handicaps are welcome, so all the guys can participate. From links to championship courses, you're bound to experience challenging rounds that will live long in your memory.

From countryside to coastal gems, taking a tour of Wales should be near the top of your bucket list. It wouldn't be complete if you didn't check out the Twenty Ten course. Otherwise, there are many to choose from. We'll leave that to your expert knowledge.

Best Places for a Wales Golf Holiday

While we would recommend Newport or Cardiff for world-class golf and jam-packed itineraries, anywhere along the coast has many underrated and hidden gems that are dying to be checked out. It's a hotspot for links lovers and these areas are a little more secluded, so less likely to be busy on the fairways.

Top Reasons To Book Golf Holidays in Wales

You're never far from a championship golf course when you're staying in Wales. Choose a coastal loop that offers a links style of play or hit the Celtic Manor to experience the three cream-of-the-crop fields. Whatever you choose, memorable moments will be made on the fairways.

Cardiff is celebrated for its vibrant nightlife and is widely regarded as one of the best party destinations in the UK. Visitors from all over flock to experience its lively atmosphere. If you want to swing throughout the day and dance all night, Cardiff is an excellent destination.

Other areas such as Swansea and Newport also have buzzing nightlife.

Wales has a diverse range of dining options, including both chain and independent restaurants. Whether you're in the mood for traditional Welsh dishes like cawl and Welsh rarebit, or more typical UK grub, you'll find something to satisfy your cravings when dining out with friends.

The larger locations such as Cardiff and Newport are favourites among groups of golfers. These are home to not only the best loops but also the liveliest atmospheres and action-packed nights out. Book one of these for the ultimate golf trip.

Tips for Golf Holidays in Wales

As with all weather in the UK, throughout the winter months, it's unpredictable. However, the summer months offer golf-friendly weather for all hours of the day.
It's best to plan around May to September if you want the best experience.

Every course in Wales is famous for the rugged terrain that complements a round. Many are thought to be Open-worthy and then we have the Twenty Ten course. Without a doubt the most famous in Wales, it was built for the Ryder Cup, meaning it's championship standard. Can your group take it on?

Best Time of the Year

It's recommended to visit from May to September. Firstly, you're welcomed by warm weather during these months and the nightlife will be thriving due to tourists. Plenty of courses are still excellent throughout the off-season that any golfing connoisseur will enjoy. A great experience all year round.

The Team's Opinion

Wales is undeservedly overlooked for golf holidays. Its rugged coastal terrains and beautiful countryside courses provide visitors with many testing rounds. It's not to be missed. The nightlife of places like Cardiff lives up to its legendary expectations too.

"Groupia are amazing! They took the stress out of me doing everything myself."

"Had a great time and the booking process was easy and straightforward!"

"Would definitely recommend using Groupia to arrange similar events."

"I had a fantastic time booking the weekend away. 10/10 all the way through."

The beauty of Celtic Manor not only lies in its facilities, but the three rounds to choose from. There are three world-class courses at the Celtic Manor Resort. These are the Twenty Ten, The Roman Road, and the Montgomerie course. All vary in difficulty, but each provide different thrills for a range of golfers.

It's a great place for a group golf holiday because of the many courses on offer. From coastal to inland and parkland courses, Wales is home to around 143 different courses. You're never too far away from a championship round in Wales.

The official website states that an official certificate is not required. But because the three courses are championship standard, you must be of a "competent ability" and respect others' abilities. So, when booking a round at the Celtic Manor Resort, respect the rules and ensure you're of a goof standard.

The website states that collared or turtleneck shirts, full-length trousers, shorts with sports socks, mid-length trousers sleeveless shirts, golf skirts and golf shoes must be worn. Access will otherwise be refused.

This depends on the time of year. During peak season, costs on resorts will generally be higher, whereas they will be lower during the off-season. At Celtic Manor rooms start at around £115 per room per night.
