East Sussex Golf Trip: 3 Days, 3 Rounds, and Plenty of Laughs

Brighton: home of fish & chips, buzzing nightlife, and—most importantly—some cracking golf courses. We headed down for a three-day golf escape and, trust us, it did not disappoint. If you’re looking for a trip that balances quality golf with great off-course vibes, Brighton is a winner.

The Base: East Sussex National

Brighton Golf Trip

For this trip, we checked in at East Sussex National Hotel, Resort & Spa, a top-tier golf resort about 30 minutes from Brighton. With two championship courses, a spa, and a bar that pours a proper pint, it’s the ideal place to stay, play, and (attempt to) recover.

Day 1: East Sussex National – East Course

East Sussex National

We kicked things off with a round on the East Sussex National- East Course —a beast of a layout that’s hosted European Tour events. From the first tee, you know you’re in for a serious challenge. It’s long, with undulating fairways and greens that test even the best putters (which, as we quickly found out, we are not).
Course Highlights:
✔️ Signature par-5 13th – Risk/reward at its finest. Go for the green in two? Maybe after a few range sessions…
✔️ Stunning finishing hole – A dramatic par-4 with water in play. Perfect for settling bets.
After 18 holes (and several lost balls), we headed to the resort’s bar, where we swapped stories of “almost birdies” over a few well-earned drinks.

Day 2: East Sussex National – West Course

Brighton sea front

Feeling slightly fresher than expected, we teed up for round two on the East Sussex National – West Course. This one’s shorter and a bit more forgiving, but don’t let that fool you—it still bites if you get too comfortable.
Course Highlights:
✔️ Scenic parkland layout – Less intimidating than the East Course but still a great challenge.
✔️ Big, sloping greens – If your putting stroke isn’t on point, prepare for some three-putt frustration.
Post-round, we made the 30-minute trip to Brighton for a proper night out. Great pubs, buzzing bars, and a few questionable dance moves—exactly how a golf trip should be.

Day 3: East Brighton Golf Club

East Brighton Golf Club

To round off the trip, we took on East Brighton Golf Club, a hidden gem perched on the South Downs. The views? Unreal. The course? Windy but fun. The swing? Let’s not talk about it.
Course Highlights:
✔️ Stunning clifftop holes – Sea views and rolling fairways make this one a must-play.
✔️ Playable in all conditions – Even if the weather turns, this course drains well and stays in top shape.
After a breezy 18, it was time to pack up, grab one last coffee, and hit the road. Brighton, you were a beauty.

Final Thoughts

Brighton is an absolute no-brainer for a South East golf trip. Quality courses, a lively city, and a top-class resort make for the perfect golfing getaway. Whether you’re planning a lads’ trip or just fancy some championship-level golf with a few mates, this one’s a winner.
